Places to visit close to El Aguilón

Well off the beaten track, Tarifa has retained it’s Spanish heritage, here you can still experience the real Spain.

Tarifa: A magnificent Moorish castle dominates this ancient walled fishing town. Its cobbled streets and tapas bars embrace the thriving surf culture to make it one of Europe's most famous windsurfing spots. This sleepy town comes alive at night, thanks to the surfers' favorite refrain "Surf all day, dance all night".

Beaches: This whole area is renowned for its miles of unspoilt white sandy beaches.

Historial Site: Roman Ruins at Bolonia - 10 mins from house Phoenician Tombs - in the hills around El Aguilon

Whale Watching: If you lean out far enough, you can almost touch them.

Vejer: An ancient and particulary stunning whitewashed town with original castle walls.

Coto Doñana: Europe’s greatest marshland. Thousands of protected species enjoy the environment of this huge National Park.

Visit Morocco: There is a ferry (35 mins) to Tangiers from Tarifa.

Birdwatching: This area is an important migratory route south, birders' paradise.

Wild Flowers: From November to May the flowers are spectacular. Orchids, narcissi, etc. grow wild in the surrounding countryside.

Tarifa Feria: A 10 day fiesta in September, horses, flamenco, and a terrific atmosphere.

Facinas Romeria: A vast local picnic in May among the cork oaks & wild flowers. Horses, sherry, spontaneous flamenco dancing.
