Horseriding

Whether you feel like a canter along a white sandy beach or a saunter through the cork oak forests, Tarifa has some of the most spectacular riding country in Europe,

Best to go in the cool of the early morning or late evening as the sun goes down ...

magic if you're lucky enough to have a low-tide at sunset.

Riding With Belinda Braithwaite

The wonderful grey mare Sevillana is steady yet responsive so she's totally safe for even the most nervous rider.

There are various places to rent horses locally, but for a truly amazing riding experience, it is occasionally possible to ride with the owner of El Aguilon, Belinda Braithwaite on one of her magnificent private horses.

During the summer months Belinda rides on Bolonia Beach in the early mornings, finishing with a swim in the sea with the horses.

Depending on the tides she either rides along the beach towards the Roman Ruins, swimming with the horses at the far end of the beach, or up into the dunes with spectacular views towards Morocco.

Formerly a UK event rider, at the age of 21 Belinda rode her horse Dragon solo 1,700 miles from Sotogrande to Paris.  Belinda wrote a bestselling book about her adventures and then set off on another 4 month horse-ride, this time from Calgary to San Francisco! Her faithful horse Dragon had a long and happy life in the pastures of El Aguilon.
