Day Trip to Tangiers
40 min ferry from tarifa
Tarifa is the southern-most tip of the Iberian Peninsula (further south than Algiers!) so a day-trip to Tangiers is just a 40 min. ferry ride from Tarifa.
The 10am ferry gives you a full day in Morocco (earlybirds can park at the ferry terminal).
Morocco is 2 hrs behind Spanish time, so you'll arrive bright and early.
We have our own guide who has looked after guests from El Aguilon for almost 20 years.
He will meet you off the ferry and guide you for the day, driving you anywhere you'd like to go.
If you're a guest at El Aguilon, remember to ask for our guide's contact details.
NB Tangiers pretty much grinds to a halt during Ramadan, so best to avoid it if possible.
Where to Eat
I probably shouldn't recommend it or everyone will know about it, but our favourite restaurant in Tangiers is the wonderful fish restaurant 'Restaurant Populaire Saveur' AKA 'Popeye's'. The menu is unchanged for years and of various courses of outrageously delicious seafood followed by strawberries with chopped almonds drizzled with local honey.
Psst ... If you arrange it with our guide beforehand, you can start the day with a fabulous breakfast of fresh orange juice, local fresh fruit and moroccan pastries on his rooftop which is one of the highest points in Tangiers.
